Welcome to the William P. Clements High School chapter of the Spanish National Honor Society! We are a group of dedicated students interested in the Spanish language, Spanish culture, and community service. As SNHS members, we go to cultural activities, language competitions, and community events, as well as social events where we sample Hispanic cuisine and enjoy each others' company. The primary focus of our society, however, is on service, directed both toward the Hispanic community and the community as a whole. We have been active in volunteering many hours to the Houston I-Fest, Second Mile Mission, the Houston Fun Run, and many other services to the community of Fort Bend County and Houston.
Our Chapter of the Spanish National Honor Society, Capítulo Cela, named for Camilo José Cela, a famous Spanish author, was founded in 1990. Our sponsor for the 2016-2017 school year is Señora Castan. Currently, we have about 100 members that are serving the community. To become a member you must be in Spanish III Honors or above, be of good character, and meet various grade criteria. For more on the membership requirements or to print out an application to join, go to Joining Prerequisites.
The Spanish National Honor Society, or Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. To find out more about this nationwide organization, go to the AATSP.
